DAY 01: Arrival Cochin Welcomed by Kerala Travel Centre representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel. A port town since early centuries, Cochin, also known as the spice coast of India, attracted traders and invaders from the world over. Needless to say, Cochin offers you some fascinating snippets of history and culture. Relax and unwind at the hotel. In the evening enjoy a relaxing Sunset cruise. Overnight at the Koder House. DAY 02: Cochin Today you could go for an optional Sightseeing tour to explore the many fascinating highlights of Cochin which include - The Jewish Synagogue in what is locally called the Jew Town, St. Francis Church which is the oldest European Church in India, the Santa Cruz Basilica built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Dutch Palace, the spice market and the 15th century Chinese fishing nets believed to have been brought by Chinese traders. In the evening, visit the Kerala Kaliedoscope, a cultural program showcasing the many cultural highlights and dances of Kerala. Overnight at the Koder House. (Vehicle at disposal)
DAY 03: Cochin - Calicut (By Train)Board a train and enjoy a fascinating train journey through some very scenic rail routes in Kerala to the city of Calicut. On arrival, check into you hotel where you can unwind. It was in Calicut that the great voyager Vasco Da Gama landed in the 14th century in his quest for spices thus putting it on the world map. The traditional capital of North Kerala and a leading trading centre for spices on the west, the city has retained its glorious past and presents travellers with historic sites and a unique culture. In the evening go for a relaxing cruise in your private houseboat through the stunning backwaters of Calicut. Cruising along palm fringed banks and watching the sunset is a truly exhilarating experience. Overnight at the Kadavu Resort. (Vehicle at disposal)
DAY 04: Calicut Venture into town and visit the Sweet Meat Street and the many colourful shops in Calicut.Drive to Beypore, a prominent port and fishing harbour of ancient Kerala and visit its boatyards which have been building vessels since early centuries for legendary seamen. The astounding feature is the way in which the boats are built wherein the skilled craftsmen build boats based on just experience - without any drawings or charts. Visit a century old tile factory founded by the Germans and later acquired by the British. The century old machinery and systems that are still in use to produce tiles and bricks make for a very interesting visit. Overnight at the Kadavu resort. (Vehicle at disposal)
DAY 05: Calicut - Vythiri (80kms/3hrs)Drive to Wayanad set in the picturesque Western Ghats and mountains at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. Littered with tropical rain forests, dense hills, rolling paddy fields, spice plantations and valleys, Wayanad is a hitherto undiscovered location offering breathtaking views. Day at leisure. DAY 06: Vythiri - Tellicherry Wake up to the chirping of the birds in the forest and the sound of streams meandering and tinkling around your cottage. Today you could go boating on the Pookot lake. With its own dream-like serenity, this natural freshwater lake is surrounded by mountains, meadows and trees on all sides. Overnight at the Vythiri Resort. (Vehicle at disposal)
DAY 07: Vythiri - Sulthan Bathery (45kms/1hrs)Drive through winding roads in the hills covered with thick forests, coffee, rubber and tea estates, crop plantations to Sulthan Bathery. Check into a plantation estate tucked in a 400 acre coffee and spice plantation. ptional visit to the pre historic Edakkal Caves formed naturally out of a strange disposition of three huge boulders making one to rest on the other two with its bottom jutting out in between and serving as the roof. Rest of the day at leisure in the beautiful estate. Overnight at the Tranquil Plantation Hideaway. (Vehicle at disposal)
DAY 08: Sulthan Bathery Visit the Wayanad sanctuary where one can find animals such as sloth bears, sambhar (wild deer), elephants, monkeys, tigers, reptiles, deer, panthers, and many species of rare birds A great opportunity to visit the Sentinel (Soochipara) waterfalls named after the needle shape of the rocks is recommended. DAY 09: Sulthan Bathery - Calicut- Cochin (125kms/3.5hrs by road followed by 0.5hr flight)After a leisurely breakfast you can drive to the Calicut airport to take an internal flight to Cochin. On arrival, transfer to your hotel where you can check in and unwind. You could spend the evening shopping and enjoying your last day in the city. Enjoy a relaxing ayurveda massage. DAY 10: Cochin - Departure Departure transfer to Cochin airport for return flight. (Vehicle for transfer)
