Neeleshwar Hermitage has 12 independent cottages, built according to the traditional architectural principles of Vastu Shastra so as to conform to the subtle principles of Nature that operate in each locality. The cottages are isolated from each other so as to give their occupants a sense of absolute privacy. Each cottage is of generous proportions, has a high ceiling, is light and airy, and is embellished with locally handmade furniture as well as antique and contemporary works of art from different parts of Kerala. The buildings are constructed in the local idiom with walls made of laterite, doors and windows made of wood, and roofs thatched with palm fronts, and they gel seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
