OUR POLICY:

At the Kerala Travel Centre we have always been firm believers in Responsible Tourism... a belief you will see reflected in our practices and responsible tourism projects. We have always strived to channel the effects of tourism to the betterment of the region. We believe with conviction that tourism should benefit local communities by generating greater economic benefits for the local people, by focusing on sustainable travel and last but not the least by conserving the environment.

You will find therefore that all our ground operations (and your actual holiday) are handled by locals (who are such a spirited, warm and enterprising people). We believe that the Kerala experience is the sum of all its parts. Apart from the breathtaking locations, Kerala offers you its rich culture and traditions, year round festivals and a plethora of fascinating art forms. What makes Kerala such a delightful destination is the authenticity it provides. As a responsible tour operator who is really passionate about the region, we have always endeavored to promote Kerala’s other highlights and art forms and make it a point to include them in our tours. Apart from showcasing our various exclusive tours and hotels, our brochures have extensive information on these other highlights. (See ‘Explore’ section for details)

You will find that our tours involve local dance demonstrations, stay in authentic home stays, visits to boat building yards, complimentary ayurveda massages, kalaripayattu (the local martial art) demonstrations and many such elements that both make your holiday special and also help to sustain these fascinating art forms. In doing all this, we endeavor to create a more enjoyable experience for travelers through more meaningful connections with local people, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.

DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS:

KTC’s ‘Empowering Children through Education‘ project has been designed to empower underprivileged children by providing for their education. We believe that by being able to provide education to underprivileged children we could play a part in molding their future and in turn the growth of Kerala. We have also strived to make this project effective and measurable. So every time a client books with us we donate £25.00 of our profits to this cause which goes towards providing books, bags and uniforms for one child’s education for one whole year.

So every time you book with us, apart from having signed up to a fascinating and memorable holiday experience, you also fund the education of a child for one year.

Among other projects, we also donate five percent of our profits to charities which fund education, medical and health operations for underprivileged children and adults in Kerala.

Talks are also underway to partner with the hotel communities to join forces to preserve and sustain some highlights of Kerala.

For travelers interested in getting involved with the local community, you will also find a section called ‘Volunteering projects’ in our portfolio of
