All the ground operations for making your
holiday a well-planned and orchestrated
experience are handled by locals. These people
include our Kerala Experts who design your tour
and formulate your itinerary, guest relations staff
who look after you during your tour and make
sure everything runs smoothly, drivers who
safely transfer you to hotels, tour guides and
other locals who are sometimes involved with
your tour. It therefore goes without saying that
each client who chooses to book with the Kerala
Travel Centre is contributing to help secure
employment and economic benefits for local
people of Kerala.
As a responsible tour operator and being a
company that is really passionate about Kerala
we always strive to provide the discerning
traveler with the best Kerala experience
possible. Our work ethic is more than just
wanting to run a successful business; it is about
us being in a position where we can make a
difference to how people perceive Kerala. Our
clients are our voice and we want them to spread
the word after they return from their trip about
how fantastic Kerala really is.
Kerala is all about its authenticity and you will
find that many of our tours are not just an
assortment of hotels and transfers but include
a number of special local experiences. These
include local dance demonstrations and visits
to traditional dance and art centers which in
turn help preserve and promote these ancient
art forms of Kerala. Other local experiences include stays in authentic home stays, village
visits, dinners with local families and many other
events that make your time in Kerala special but
also benefit those involved.

In doing all this, we endeavor to create a more
enjoyable experience for travellers through more
meaningful connections with local people and
a greater understanding of local cultural, social
and environmental issues.
Our Develop ment Projects:
The Fort Cochin Project:
One of the most sought after highlights in the
Fort Cochin area are the Chinese fishing nets
(said to have been left by Chinese traders in
the 15th century). Set on a two-mile stretch of
beach, the fishing nets and the vibrant fishing
market adjoining it make for an interesting visit.
We found however that this stretch of beach
was not maintained and that the algae that
floated onto the shore combined with the litter
that visitors accumulated in the area made this
historic highlight almost inaccessible.
The Kerala Travel Centre, through its KTC
Responsible Tourism Trust, has adopted to clean
and maintain this two-mile stretch of beach. The
project has created employment and now offers
a much better experience for travellers who
frequent the area. It has also created a better
atmosphere for the fishmongers and market
traders to work in.
In keeping with our ethos of community
participation the Company is now collaborating
with hotels in the Fort Cochin area to make this a
sustainable project.
Empowering Children through
Education Project:
This project has been designed to empower
underprivileged children by providing for their
education.

|

We believe that by being able to
provide education to underprivileged children
we could play a part in moulding their future and in turn the growth of Kerala. We have
also striven to make this project effective and
measurable. The company donates a percentage
of profits to this cause which goes towards
providing books, bags and uniforms for a child’s
education, for a whole year.
So every time you book with us, apart from
having signed up for a fascinating and memorable
holiday experience, you also are helping to fund
the education of children in Kerala.
We are always on the look out for new projects
where we can make a difference to the Kerala
which we all love and cherish.
